From Sims to Real Life

In the first part:
– Raph Lightkeeper celebrated his birthday
– Daisy and Val became the proud parents of a beautiful baby

Daisy gave birth to a precious little baby boy.
Valdemar was so happy that he wanted to register the baby right away. Without consulting Daisy, he named the boy Alfredo. It was then, that Val and Daisy had their first friction. She didn’t like that name and she told Val to go back to the Town Hall to say that it had all been a mistake. She wanted the baby to be called Daniel. When he uttered that he felt ridiculous, she said: “All right; stay here. I will go and register him as Daniel Bell.” That was too much for Val who hurried and said: No, no…; I will change the name but please…, he’s my son and I want him to have my family name. He went back to the Town Hall while Daisy smiled.

She was happy. Very soon she would marry the man she loved so much. She was pleased that he had found a job because, in spite of loving him very much, it could be tiring to have him around all day long.
She spent the days enjoying the baby and decided that, perhaps in the future, she would take up her job as a chef. Perhaps she could work at the Bistro.

Yes, the Bistro was a very popular place. Young people often had dinner dates and were nicely dressed. On the terrace you could hardly find a free table as a few minutes ago the performance at the theatre had ended. Everybody wanted to go on talking about the show enjoying the pleasure of a juice or a glass of nectar. The sound of accordion music brought a real French ambience.

Jeremy Captain and Jane Hunter sat at one of the tables. He had invited her to this nice restaurant. After diner, he looked at her seriously and said: “Jane, I have to say something to you.”
– What’s it, Jeremy? –
– Have you already looked around for a place to live? –
– No, I haven’t…; why? –
– Because I’m planning to go to the Lighthouse Island for an extended period of time and I just want to know whether I can go with my own boat or if I have to rent a motorboat to go there. –
– Can’t I come with you? –

– No you can’t, my dear Jane. You may live on my boat until you have something of your own but I’m not going to take you to the island. I’ve been thinking a lot about us lately. You shouldn’t depend on me. I’m far too old for you. –
– No, you’re not old! –
– I don’t feel old but there’s more to it. –
Jane looked puzzled. She did not expect this and wondered if she had done something wrong.

– Jane, I’m not sorry for having made love to you; as a matter of fact, you wanted me to. You are so sweet and I’m very fond of you. I feel proud that you have done me the honour of giving you your first kiss; but I’m very sure that this wouldn’t have happened under different circumstances. We have been together for a few weeks now. Your brother hasn’t been much of company during the journey due to his sea sickness. We only had each other and all these ingredients, hormones and imagination, they make up for an explosive cocktail. –

– No…! I’m in love with you! –
– No, my dearest; you are in love with love itself and you enjoy the energy that runs through your body when we make love. Mind you; I like it as well, very much so… but in our case it’s not enough for something lasting. –
He looked at her in his normal kind way and put his hand over hers’.
– You don’t know anything about me…, no… please don’t interrupt me! I have to go back to Lighthouse Island. That place helped me once, and this time it will help me to sort out my actual doubts. –
– Do you doubt about me? –
– No…, as a matter of fact you don’t have anything to do with it. I doubt about myself.-

Jane was a bit confused. It’s true; he never told her that he loved her. She knew she could rely on him. He had offered her to stay on the boat until he would have to leave again; but he had offered the same to her brother. He was not ending an official relationship; there was none! Now he said that he could rent a motorboat to go to Lighthouse Island! Of course, that was nonsense! She was sure that she could live at her brother’s house or at Ilona’s. She could even help her with the children!

– Well then, Jeremy… tonight I will still sleep on the boat but tomorrow I will go and live at my brother’s place. I do hope to see you again because I have very dear memories of you.She withdrew her hand slowly out of his’ and said: Let’s go, there are some people waiting for a free table and we finished our diner. –
Jeremy went to pay the bill. He admired Jane for the way she took this. ‘She surely is more mature than I thought.’

They went to the boat and while walking fast, Jane tried to stay ahead. Jeremy supposed that she wanted to hide her tears.

He caught up with her, turned her around and embraced her gently.  – Don’t hate me Janey; I really have deep feelings for you, but this is for our best. You will understand it in time. – With tears in her voice she said: – In time… in what time? – The only thing Jeremy could do was holding her and caressing her back. She started feeling the butterflies fluttering in her stomach again and when he noticed her body responded to the caresses, he said: – Jane, this is a normal reaction of your body. If someone else would hold you like this, you would experience the same, unless you really dislike the person. –

That night they didn’t sleep very well but Jeremy knew that he had taken the right decision.

Next day, he helped her with her luggage and accompanied her to her brother’s house. He gave her his cell phone because he really wanted to disconnect with the world. He told her that he would come to pick it up again when he returned. She kissed him on the cheek and rang the door bell.

Daisy heard somebody ring the doorbell. When she opened, she saw Jane standing there with luggage. She noticed that Jane wasn’t looking very happy. You don’t have to be a psychic to understand that something had happened between Jane and Jeremy although she saw that he had come to drop her off. Daisy just embraced her sister-in-law-to-be and decided not to ask anything. She invited her in and showed her to the guest room.

Jane was very grateful Daisy hadn’t asked anything and while putting her clothes into the closet, she felt so incomplete. She couldn’t find another word to describe her feelings. She wasn’t even sure whether she would stay here or with her mother.

She called Ilona. Mattie answered the phone saying that his mother wasn’t home. – Can you give her a message? Tell her that I will pay her a visit tomorrow afternoon. –

–  All right, I’ll leave her a message because I, myself am going now to Raph’s house. Hey, I will be pleased to see you tomorrow, big sister! –

When she wanted to relax a bit on the bed, she heard the baby cry and she quickly went to see if she could help Daisy taking care of the baby.

The little one brought a bit of sunshine in her heart and she smiled.

Jane understood all too soon that little Daniel could help her finding back her balance. She might even want to take care of the baby and then Daisy could go back to work. She decided to wait a week or so before mentioning that idea to Daisy.

After leaving Jane at her brother’s house, Jeremy just walked around a bit knowing that many of the people he knew, lived in the same street: Rainbow Street.

He remembered he had been there when young Raphael had his birthday. Cynthia really had impressed him but it could be because he had been impressed with Lightkeeper’s philosophy. He knew that Raphael’s grave was in their garden but he thought it hadn’t been correct to go there during the birthday party. He decided to have a look right now.
There was a chair next to Lightkeepers’ grave and he took a seat, feeling the fine atmosphere around this tombstone. That, most probably, had to do with the amorous thoughts of Cynthia and the kids who really used to talk about Raphael if though he still was with them.

He had sat there for quite a while and saw that Mattie came to visit his friend. Later Jeremy saw that Cynthia was teaching Mattie Sim-Fu. He enjoyed looking at them but shortly after they went inside the house.

When he finally decided to go home, he saw Cynthia in front of her house. Her greeted her and they chit chatted about unimportant things. Then he said that he planned to visit the Lighthouse Island. Cynthia was very pleased with that and said that she would do so as well, when the boys wouldn’t need her care anymore.
They said their goodbyes.

Jeremy went to the grocery store to buy provisions and he bought some books as well. He went to the ship and set off to the Island.

The boys had gone to bed already and Cynthia cleaned the dishes. She was about to go to bed as well, when she saw the beautiful moonlit night sky through the kitchen window. She loved nights like this so she went outside and sat near her late husband’s grave. She was carried away by her memories. In her mind she was back on Lighthouse Island and felt the peace again she had known there for the first time in her life. It was there that she had found her peace of mind thanks to Raphael. Since then, she always was aware of the presence of her late husband. She was thankful for their son Raph as well as for having adopted Risto.

Tomorrow would be Raph’s birthday. She couldn’t imagine that all those years had passed so quickly. Looking back it felt like 3 times a deep breath. Risto, her youngest had celebrated his birthday only a few months ago.
Raph was really looking forward to this birthday. He wanted to be as tall and good looking as his best friend, Mateo.

She thought about the picnic they had the other day at their pond and they had been talking about the coming events. Raph said that he wanted to invite Mat’s brother, Chessie, because he is Risto’s best friend. He admired Mat’s oldest brother and sister, who had come by boat, too. Perhaps they wanted to come as well to celebrate his birthday.
Cynthia had agreed to invite them all and had already planned to prepare a buffet. That’s much easier and people always will find something to their liking.
She stood up and went inside to go to bed. Tomorrow she would be very busy.

Very near Cynthia’s house and opposite the Hemmingway’s, Valdemar Hunter had bought a house to live there with Daisy. He had asked her to marry him and she accepted but wanted to wait until after the baby’s birth. They were looking forward so much for the baby.
Val understood that he couldn’t go on forever without working, so he started looking for a job finding one at the local newspaper where he unfortunately had to start right from the bottom.

As the doctor told Daisy it would be good to walk during these months, she got to know Sunset Valley quite well. Val had told her where she could find the boat on which they had arrived. His sister was still living on the boat and Val was sure that there was more than friendship between Jane and the captain. He had to laugh when Jane told him that Jeremy’s family name really was ‘Captain’. That surely was a coincidence. Anyway, Jane had asked Val why wouldn’t he bring Daisy in order to show her the boat and then she could meet Jeremy as well. But Val didn’t have good memories of his voyage and didn’t want to go there anymore.

She walked to the small beach where Val had indicated that she would find the boat. Walking there she came across a man who couldn’t be but the captain. She stopped and asked him “Are you Jeremy Captain?” – “And you must be Daisy?” They had to laugh. “Well, that’s a coincidence that we should meet here. I was just thinking about visiting Jane.”

“Oh, but then you’re really fortunate that we met here; otherwise that long walk would have been in vain. She went to the theatre and will not be back before 8 o’clock. But if you want to, I can walk you to the boat”.
“No, that won’t be necessary; I will come back another time.”

“Well then, bye-bye” and Daisy went back home. She had walked a lot anyway and wanted to rest a bit.

Shortly after, Val came home and saw she was tired. He told her to sit down. He would prepare something to eat. She smiled when she looked at him. She knew he wasn’t very much of a cook but the intention surely was nice.

The dish was ready and without him seeing it, she improved it behind his back and she complimented him; more on his good will than on his cooking skills.

Next day, she felt very uncomfortable and when Val told her that they were invited to Mattie’s friend’s birthday party, she asked him: “Would it be very rude if I stayed home? I don’t feel like doing much today.” Val said: “Don’t worry; I will go there for the both of us. Besides, you don’t know them yet.” He kissed her and went to the birthday party.

The first visitors had already arrived. Jane had even brought Jeremy.
Raph was a bit nervous when his mother put the birthday cake on the table. They sang the ‘Happy Birthday Song’ and while making a lot of noise they encouraged him to blow out the candles. It took him a good while because he was thinking of making a good wish. He then took a deep breath and ffffffff.

Everybody was happy and Cynthia asked him what he had wished for. “No, I won’t tell you! It couldn’t come true if I did tell you!” Then it happened: he grew up and was just as big as his friend Mat. (That was what he had wished for).

In spite of having eaten so much from the buffet, everybody took a piece of birthday cake. They were having a good time talking, playing the guitar and dancing.

When Jeremy Captain heard that their family name was Lightkeeper, he got very interested and asked Cynthia many questions about her late husband. In his opinion Raphael Lightkeeper was a very wise man and he owed him his peace of mind.

He was spending such a long time talking with Cynthia that Jane got a bit nervous about it. She didn’t take her eyes off of them. Jeremy was also interested to know young Raphael better. They talked a while and Jeremy invited him to visit him on the boat. He told them that he had lived on Lighthouse Island himself.

The party lasted until Cynthia noticed that Raph had eaten too much and had to throw up. It really was late when the visitors left and the boys had to go to school tomorrow.
This birthday party had been a big success and the following days Cynthia received various phone calls congratulating her on the perfect way she had organized it.
Jane had also called her to admire on her organization skills.

Jane herself would like to become such a good hostess. It was a pity that Daisy couldn’t come. She decided to pay her a visit and ask her how she was feeling. It shouldn’t be long before the baby was born. Daisy was very pleased with Jane’s visit. They were talking about the new house and the furniture Daisy wanted to buy when, all of a sudden, her face got that painful look.

Jane got scared and said: “Come on Daisy, I’ll take you to hospital” and off they went. Daisy didn’t want Jane to drive. The contraction was over and she felt better now. She could drive the car herself but on the way to the hospital they had to stop a few times when she felt another contraction coming.

Once in the hospital, it didn’t take long before she went into labor and she gave birth to a precious little baby.
