The Hunter Twins - Travelling

Jane and Val woke up that night because the train had stopped. Although she was curious, Jane didn’t go to the lounge when she noticed Daisy was talking to an unknown man.

*****

During breakfast, Daisy looked at Val and Jane and asked them if they had noticed the emergency stop during the night.
Val: “Oh yes, now that you mention it, we woke up but as there was no fire alarm, I went back to sleep”.

Jane: “Well, I didn’t sleep very soon and I thought I heard voices. Hey, I suppose that Mr. Field couldn’t sleep either after that stop because he still must be sleeping”.
Daisy: “I’m afraid I have some bad news”.

Both the twins looked up at Daisy wondering what that bad news could be.
“During the night I received a call through the official train communicator. They ordered me, in the name of the law, to stop the train in exactly 5 minutes. So I dressed and stopped the train.

A gentleman came on the train saying that he was an inspector and he showed me his police badge. I really was puzzled but the man was very nice. He asked me about the passengers and if I had seen something suspicious. After telling him ‘no’ he asked me to indicate Mr. Field’s sleeper.

He went there and I heard him say: ‘Well Chester, I promised you that I would lay my hands on you sooner or later’ and Mr. Field answered: ‘Don’t be so familiar with me; for you I’m Mr. Field’. Daisy smiled and added “Well you know how snobby he can be at times”.
Chester looked in a mean way and said: “I’m sure that this
underhanded Jane has to do something with it; I was right when I thought that I recognized her this afternoon!”

Daisy continued: Then he called the other police man and told him to accompany Mr. Field to the police car. He gave me some official forms and told me that you should fill them in thoroughly; leave your telephone numbers so that they can reach you just in case you have to testify.”

Val asked if they accused him of robbery and Daisy answered: Yes, they suspect that he is involved in some bank robberies in different towns and that he forms part of the simafia.” Now the expression on her face changed and she looked very angry when she added: Besides that, he is a common lollypop thief and has made many children cry; at least, thats what the Inspector said to me.”

The three of them were silent, thinking about the past events. Then Daisy cheered up and said: “Tomorrow morning we will arrive at the last possible train station. From there you will have to continue by plane or ship.”
Val started to panic and Jane tranquilized him saying that they would continue by ship but he said:
No Jane, I was just thinking that we have to leave Daisy alone.” Daisy laughed and said: Oh no dont worry about me; I will have 5 passengers travelling with me to the station from where we started.

Val and Jane spent the afternoon filling in the police forms, preparing their luggage and playing a match of chess.

Daisy had been working hard all day to prepare the sleepers for the next passengers and in the evening she came to the lounge to say that, as soon as the train would arrive at the station, she would go to the market to buy provisions. Jane said good-bye to Daisy. They wished each other lots of luck. Daisy looked at Val and said with a soft voice: I will miss the fish and Val answered: I will miss the price you paid for them and he quickly looked away because he felt that he started to blush.

Jane saw that her brother and Daisy were getting shy and she decided to give them a bit of privacy. She yawned and left the lounge to go to the sleeper.

Daisy: “Will you really miss that kiss on your cheek?”
Val: “What do you think?” He blushed again and said “I dreamed with you last night and I got bad humoured when I woke up”.
Daisy: “What was your dream about?”
Val: “I dreamt that you were so grateful for the fish that you gave me a very big tip”.

Daisy: “You mean a tip like this?” She tiptoed and gave him a kiss on the mouth. Now both of them blushed. Val put his arms around her and answered: “Yes, I dreamt that you gave me my first real kiss. In my dream it was fantastic but reality is better by far.”

She admitted that it was her first kiss as well. They just stood there holding hands while it was getting late. She said: “We should go to bed, tomorrow we have to get up soon”.

He asked if it wouldn’t be possible to continue ‘talking’ in the big-bed-sleeper and she said it would be no problem. So they passed the time talking and hugging while they were aware that they really had fallen in love.

Val felt his heartbeat skip when looking at her. He approached her and asked “May I do this to you?”
As an answer, Daisy put her arms around him and kissed him slightly in his neck. Val felt that his voice sounded harsh when he said: “I suppose you’re not a vampire… and if so… I wouldn’t mind at all.”

Passion melted their clothes away and fortunately the speed of the train was that high that nobody could see what happened in that sleeper. It was their first and last night together.

When Jane woke up, she noticed that her brothers’ bed was not used during the night. She suspected something when he wasn’t at the lounge. Neither was Daisy.
She left Val a note on the table telling him that she had gone to the pier to buy their tickets for the continuation of their travel and that she would be waiting for him there. She decided to take a walk.

They were still in SimItaly and the weather was nice.

She took a deep breath while looking at the beautiful ship and went on board to buy their tickets.

The Hunter Twins - Travelling

Many thanks to Nekocat for his wonderful Venice Lagoon.

*****

Oh Janey; look at all those colorful houses over the water there!”

That must be Venice Lagoon Val, because the train is slowing down. Oh youre right; this looks so beautiful with all that water. I really hope that were going to stay at this station for a while.
Jane went to see Daisy and asked her how much time they would have here. Daisy said:
The train will be leaving at 20.00; that means (looking at her watch) that you will have almost 12 hours to explore this place.

Are you coming with us Daisy? Val asked. No thank you, I cannot leave the train alone. Besides that I have to wait because some groceries will be delivered and they will come and change some furniture, but you can go. Enjoy yourselves!”

Valdemar was already dressed to go out. He wanted to have a look around. He asked: Do you feel like going with us to see this place, Mr. Field?
No, I know the place and have to do some business here and he continued drinking his nectar.

Jane and Val were struck by the beauty of the place.
Val wanted to go fishing but Jane thought that it would be a pity to stay on one spot only.

“So you’re sure you don’t want to come with me?”
“No Jane, it’s been some days that I couldn’t go fishing; I really feel like it. I enjoy nature while fishing.”

Val prepared for a large fishing session and Jane went walking to have a better look at that suburb with all those colored houses.

It was great to notice that the people there were very nice. Some of them invited her in to have a glass of nectar and when she said good-bye to them, saying that she wanted to see the lagoon, that woman told her to be careful. Why? she asked. The lady answered that the Simafia could be hiding there in the forest.

While walking along the streets with the canals and crossing numerous bridges, Jane thought that she would have nothing to fear because she didn’t have anything of value with her.

So she walked and enjoyed the place. She had bought a camera and she took many pictures.

At midday she had a quick lunch and continued to explore the reeds. It was really very picturesque. She decided to come back for a holiday.

She was absorbed by the beauty of the flora and the atmosphere in general. There were seagulls screaming all the time. That sound belonged to this waterland.

It was getting hot and she looked for shady places to continue her walk.

Certain moment she thought that she heard something behind the bushes; she approached them and saw an old, shabby house. It really looked bad and some windows were broken and closed with wooden planks. It was if though the house was built in this hidden place on purpose; you had to be very close to notice it.

She heard some men talking and one of them said: This has been very satisfactory. We will contact you for another job”. She wondered what that would mean and when she heard footsteps on the gravel, she stepped backwards and hid behind the trees, bushes and the rubbish containers.

Then she saw him: Mister Field. What was he doing here? She noticed that he looked around and over his shoulder and then quickly went away.

She held her breath until she was sure that nobody could see or hear her and then she went back to the place where she had left her brother fishing.

He was very happy because he had caught a lot of fish. Jane told him what she had seen and that she wondered what kind of business Mr. Field had.

Val said: Considering that mans character, I wouldnt ask him about it, sis.” Jane agreed with him.
The shadows were getting longer while walking back to the train they saw the moon rising.

When Val showed Daisy all the fishes he had caught, she asked him if he would sell them to her. He smiled and said: All right but you will have to give me a kiss for that.” She smiled and said: Thats a deal and she kissed him on his cheeks.
Wow… Although they didn’t touch, Daisy was very close and Val noticed her perfume and the warmth of her body; he almost lost his senses.

After a while, Daisy looked at her watch and said: Its time to leave; I wonder why Mr. Field hasnt come yet. I hope he will soon be there because we cannot wait for him much longer.

When she was about to give the order of departure, Chester Field came walking fast and said: Sorry and thank you that youve been waiting. Can we leave right away now?
Daisy looked puzzled that he was in a hurry while he had been holding up the train but ‘client is king
, so she didnt respond and gave the order to depart.

Val and Jane wanted to work out with the TV and changed their clothes. On the way to the launch, Val saw that Mr. Field had dropped something on the floor and quickly picked it up. It was a very thick envelope and he saw some money peeking out. He was about to say something but, thinking it over, he kept his mouth shut.

While Val and Jane were doing their daily exercises, Daisy en Mr. Field were watching TV.
Jane and Val were exhausted so, after having had a shower they went to bed and fell asleep right away.

What time is it? Jane asked herself. It was night and something woke her up.

She saw that Val woke up as well. He rubbed his eyes and said: Hey, whats the matter the train has stopped!

Now Jane understood what woke her up. An emergency stop! There was no fire alarm and Val turned around and went to sleep again but Jane was curious. She quietly left her sleeper and stood there looking through the window of the launch where she saw Daisy talking to somebody she had never seen. It would be of bad taste to go there in pajamas so she went back to bed. Tomorrow she would ask Daisy what that emergency stop had been for.

She heard some movements in the corridor but then the familiar sound of the moving train made her fall asleep.
