Lobster Thermidor & Autumn Salad – part 2

Banner Lobster 3

Welcome back to the second chapter of my story about Lobsters and Salads, and the ingredients to use to make them the perfect dish on your table. I am talking about the ingredients of life.

The Field boys were the sweetest sons a mother could wish for. And for any other mother with daughters they would make the perfect sons in law. Courteous, helpful, smart and even good looking. Chester IV took after his mother, while Randolph and Cedric were the spitting image of their father.

Their father… who would now tend the garden and help Lauren out when and where ever he could. He was not such a bad guy…. Most of his traits were to be traced back to his own mother and father and his upbringing. But that would be a whole different story…

He paid for the bills and stayed at home. Painting, and taking care of the garden.

Chester brought home a girlfriend, Khadia…. Now here the story is taking a turn more towards the future our present time…. Khadia was here to stay.

After a couple of weeks, Chester had his first whoohoo with Khadia…

and learned that this one night was not without consequences Khadia was pregnant.

Chester did as he felt was the right thing to do. It had also to do with his upbringing. He proposed and Khadia said YES!

Nine months later Khadia, now Mrs. Chester Field IV, gave birth to an heir: Chester Field V. This, my dear readers is my son in law Sweet Chester….

Whats that smelluh… oh…, one of the ingredients has gone sour!

While painting, Chester III felt a terrible pain in his chest and before he knew it, he passed away.

Just as Grim was leading him the way to the after world, Lauren walked in…. She never knew this was the moment that would be one of the most painful ones in her life.

Lauren was heartbroken. Her husband, her Chester, the father of her children died.

Chester Field III found his resting place to be in his favorite spot. In the garden maze, under the statue of Fortuna, goddess of fortune and the personification of luck….

Next morning the family came down for one of Laurens perfect breakfasts. Her sons and grandson saw that Lauren had changed overnight. She had become an old woman with nothing to live for anymore.

Chester, a doctor now, wanted to take his mom for a checkup at the hospital. He didnt feel good about the way she looked and acted. She kept on mumbling about the Ambrosia recipe.

Lauren was devastated. She had lost her anchor in her life. The main ingredient to make things work. Be it that Chester was not the most loving man, he was still her husband and the only love she had known. She was so sorry she hadnt been able to make him the food of life: Ambrosia.

That same night Chester came to look for Lauren and told her she should not worry about him or the things to come….

For the first time in her life, Chester told her: SORRY…. Sorry for all the wrong I did to you. I know now I know I should have shown you that I loved you…. Lauren, will you forgive me?

And Lauren chose to forgive Chester.

201

Chester IV woke up… there was something not right. His brother Randolph had a friend over this evening, but there was something strange going on downstairs.

At that moment he hadnt noticed his father sitting in the chair waiting for him to wake up.

Chester went downstairs and right there and thenLauren died. Leaving Randolphs friend in a shock.

Lauren Field, beloved mother of three sons passed away. Randolph witnessed it all and he would never ever forget this moment in his life.

Chester, Laurens husband was there too. Waiting for her to be with him again for eternity.

But Lauren had to say goodbye to her sons first. Randolph she gave an extra hug and she told him not to feel sorry or guilty. She was at peace now, they could always come to her grave and talk to her. She promised she would visit every so often.

Chester made her a promise. He would follow in her footsteps and swore the family would finally accomplish her wishto make Ambrosia.

The only problem was that the only one who could cook was Randolph, and none of the boys ever fished or helped in the garden before. Was it too late to learn?

They didnt know yet, but somehow, somewhere in time they would come to understand. Their road would be a long one to take…

I have to work now. But after that Im off for a couple of days. Im working on a special dish…, Ambrosia. There is more to tell in this story. Theres much more. I still havent gotten to the part about the lobster entering our salad family.

Lobster Thermidor & Autumn Salad

Banner Lobster 3

I have been wanting to tell this particular story for a long time now. It says it’s about food, yes, but theres more to the food than in the picture. Its most about the people and why sometimes simple things like a salad goes so well with the exquisite Lobster.
It’s not so much how exquisite it is…It’s in the love and care put into it.

My name is Marge Engstrom. I live a simple but happy life. I own my own Restaurant where I am the chef. Chez Margeaux is the place to be.

I have to tell you what is cooking in our private life. It will not so much be about me, but more about my daughter well and the family she married into. My daughter, just like me, we are more the Autumn Salad kind of people.

I will tell you how the Lobster entered our family. Therefore I have to take you back many , many years.

See my son in law, hes a lobster guy, brought change. Not just that…, he brought his entire family along. The dead ones that is! I have to tell you something about them, The Field Family.

Chester Field III and his lovely young wife Lauren lived in the Field Estate, just down the road from where my husband Pete, god rest his soul, and myself bought a lovely old farm. That was years after this couple had passed away.

I guess they were not very happy. Chester loved himself more than he loved his wife.
Lauren was just a nice prop in his posh house and a pretty accessory.

They must have had something going together though. Lauren was an amazing cook.
And the love for his wife went through this man’s stomach. Lauren did everything in the house. She cooked and cleaned and tried to tend the vegetable garden. Chester just painted.

A very vein man, this Chester Field III. They would stay together however, certainly after Lauren announced they were expecting their first baby.

Lauren was very lonely. All her hopes were set on the baby. The affection she didnt get from Chester she was going to get from her children. She would also make sure they would always get the love they deserved.

Chester IV was born on a hot summers eve. The strange thing however was, that Chester III was to be found in the nursery many evenings to just hold his first born and talk to him. The softer side of Chester III slowly surfaced.

Chester left his wife alone may nights and many days. He was out! Business trips, Fishing, Art courses…. Lauren stayed home with her son. And cooked.

Many times Chester would call, telling Lauren he was staying away a bit longer than planned. Do you need anything? He would ask. Lauren couldnt tell him she needed him home, with his family.

Chester would always bring home expensive gifts. Sort of making up for the time he spent away from home.

Just once…, only onceLauren accused him of caring more about the riches than he cared about her and their son.

Chester decided to stay home more, and he paintedand painted.

Occasionally the couple would run in to each other in the bedroom.

And so it happened Lauren was blessed once more. A new baby was going to be her prerogative. This was her life. Her children would be her life.

As Randolph made his entry in the Field family, Chester was getting old. He felt he was too old to have to take care of babies. He would leave that to Lauren as well. He just wanted to paint and to be left alone.

It was not very long after Randolph was born when Lauren was pregnant once again. She tried once more to get Chester to help her with the children, or at least tend to the garden now that she couldnt do that anymore. She wanted to make Ambrosia. But the gardening skills were not sufficient.

Lauren and Chester were blessed with another son, Cedric.

Lauren made a decision. There were NO more babies going to be born. She would have her own bedroom from now on.

With two toddlers and her firstborn Chester IV, she was having her birthday and even her husband was home to celebrate this with them. The two youngest children didnt really know their father well. He was never there. The two Chesters had a special relationship. Lauren was happy about that.

Chester was not really interested in his two youngest sons. His only heir was Chester IV. That was enough. He could now die a happy man.

Lauren adored her children and they adored her. She would always cook their favorite meals, tell them stories and goof around with them.

Yes…, Lauren felt she got all the love she needed. Her children were her everything. She always told her children that she loved their father very much, and in a way that was true.

Chester was a young adult already and Randolph and Cedric came to him whenever they had questions. For them their father was just someone who came with the house.

Lauren told her sons that no matter what happened they should always take care of one another. Family was the most important thing they had in their lives. Family…, you cannot choose your family… You might as well love each other.

Yes, The Field family was complete. Many years went by and the sons grew up.
That was many years ago, but I will tell you what happened after when I get back from work. I have to cook Lobster Thermidor for my guests in the restaurant tonight.
