Another Point op View – Part 9

She shivered a bit; the water was quite cold or was her skin so warm?

While walking deeper into the water, there was a special excitement in her breast and her mind. She had been longing years for this day to come, although lately she hadnt been swimming due to the different jobs.
Anyway she thought that she could manage it easily.

The water now was deep enough and she started swimming and swimming.
She felt if thought something very special was going to happen.

What time could it be? she asked herself. She was getting a bit tired and had forgotten her watch.
She decided to rest a while, turned on her back and let her body be carried by the water but after a short moment, the sun was blinding her so she continued swimming.
It seemed to her that the coast of Lighthouse Island was already nearer because looking behind her, she saw that Sunset Valley
s beach was quite far away.

How long have I been swimming? She tried to sort it out by thinking of the one hour sessions in the pool. Then she hadnt been so tired after one hour. Could it be that she was already 3 hours on her way? No logic told her that its not the same, swimming in a pool or in the ocean. No, most probably it would not even be 2 hours since she started.

She turned on her back again for some rest but the sun was so sharp that even with her eyes closed, she felt very uncomfortable. However, she needed to rest and in order to protect her eyes, she wanted to put her hand over her face but she lost her balance. Damned, I swallowed water!

Now she had more problems to deal with: her aching arms, her painful eyes and a sour throat. For a moment, she started to panic but then she said to herself: Come on Axi… keep breathing regularly and keep your head up. Youre about to achieve what you always wanted: be on Lighthouse Island. She noticed that the island was near now because she could see the lighthouse very well. She tried to redouble the speed but could not continue after a while. Her great effort made her exhausted; she couldnt see nor think properly, feeling her heartbeat all over her body. Then it was if though something was pulling her down

She came into a kind of dark tunnel and at the end was a light as bright as the sun but it didnt hurt her eyes She felt if though she was surrounded by lovingly arms for the first time in her life and then everything went black.

Raphael had been shopping at Sunset Valley. He didnt go there very often only when he really needed to. In his opinion it was a noisy place.

Mind you, he loved people but one by one. This man had so much love to give; not the physical kind of love. He had ruined his life as a young adult and he had paid for it. He had been held in prison where he was touched by The Light. This changed him completely. He started to have another philosophy, another look on life. Due to good behavior they set him free and he disappeared for the eyes of the world.

Now he was an old man, skinny but strong. He had learned to love nature, became vegetarian and wasnt bored at all being alone at his house the Lighthouse.

Only when he really needed to, he would take his boat to go to town. As he grew his own vegetables, he practically never had to go there but today was an exception.
A woman had tried to swim to his island and she almost drowned. Fortunately he had seen how she was struggling and he had been able to save her life.

He took care of her and put her into a bed. She really must have come to receive a little bit of light but she needed to be dressed as well. Thats why Raphael Keeper of Light went to town; to buy some clothes. He wanted to hurry because he left the young woman alone and since she was there, she had not woken up. So he hurried a bit more on his bike to go back to the shore where his boat was lying. Fortunately it wouldnt take long to arrive at the island.

That foolish young woman probably had thought that she could swim that distance in only one hour or so…. It was quite normal that she was exhausted when he took her out of the water. She hadnt even noticed him lifting her up and taking her to the lighthouse.
Before he went to do the shopping, he left on a note that she could get something to eat and drink from the fridge.

When he arrived home, he saw the girl still was sleeping but had started to move a lot. So he put a chair next to her bed in order to be there when she would wake up.

He didnt have to wait a long time for that moment. She jumped out of bed and saw that she was dressed in some old-fashioned nightclothes.
Where am I? What am I doing here? Who are you? What happened?

Those are too many questions at the same time, young lady. I will try to answer them one by one. My name is Raphael Lightkeeper. You almost drowned but fortunately I saw you from the top of the lighthouse. I took my boat and rescued you just when you wanted to give up. Now its your turn to tell me who you are.”

Oh yes, sorry, Im Cynthia del Campo. Then she looked at herself and asked Is there a woman living with you or did you take my clothes off?
I live here alone and what clothes are you talking about? You were in a swimming suit. I could hardly put you into bed being completely wet so, yes, I took your wet stuff off and I dried you thoroughly before putting you into bed. Dont worry my dear, Im an old man and I have seen so many things in my life!

Cynthia felt a bit ashamed thinking that a man undressed her. She observed him and saw that he was a skinny man. How on earth could he have brought her all the way up from the beach to the lighthouse?

Raphael told her that he had given her some medicins because she had fever when she arrived.

Cynthia was struck with awe and didnt know how to react. Then Raphael said You must be hungry; I will prepare a meal for you. In the closet are some clothes you can use. I expect you downstairs. Yes she was hungry, so she dressed and then followed him downstairs looking at the surroundings. She had not expected that a lighthouse would be so spacious.

She really was hungry and the meal prepared by the man, was heavenly. Dont you want to eat? she asked him. No, I had lunch before.”
Raphael was watching the girl with growing interest. Cynthia didn
t know it but Raphael was very sensitive. He could feel other peoples pain; their state of mind, their humor…. When he had been touched by the Light, he went through a very difficult period. It took him a long time before being aware that the devil looking at him in the mirror was the sum of his own ‘inner shadows. Once he understood that, he had fought against his shadows until the mirror reflected only goodness and love. Since then he had been able to form part of every living being on earth. He just had to focus on something or someone and he felt part of that being. He had learnt that even buried stones make their way to the surface to reach the Light.

After having eaten, Cynthia wanted to help the man cleaning the house. She didnt understand why but she felt very peaceful in his company.
He told her that she could stay as long as she wanted and needed. While playing chess, he noticed that all the love she had inside could not possibly come out because of her heart-chakra. It was completely closed and he was sure that he still had a mission in life.

After a few hours he said: Well my dear, have you found the bathroom already? You could have a shower and then retire. I hope that you like your room. You will find some books there. Have a good night sleep.

Cynthia had a wonderful shower and she felt renewed.

She dressed for the night and lay on the bed, looking around. Yes, she liked the place very much and Raphael seemed to be honest when he told her that she could stay as long as she wished.

While thinking of him, she had a warm feeling towards him. He had saved her life and was a lovingly man. She felt like a little girl next to him. How would her life have been if her own father would have been like Raphael….

She fell asleep and dreamt that the Lighthouse was guiding lost boats.

Another Point of View – Part 7

After changing into an adult, Cynthia knew that she would definitely not start a romantic friendship, not after that traumatic experience with John and his friend.
She made up her mind to work a bit harder.

A few days ago, she had received a phone call offering her an everydays job, having to prepare lunch as well. She told them ‘no but now she was reconsidering her decision. Perhaps she could forget better if she would work every morning as well. It was clear to her that she wouldnt give up her job at the cemetery.

She might as well look how this everydays job turned out to be. Thats how she got to know Chester Hemmingway.

Meeting the young man, she saw that he was the lonely, silent type of person. That, at least, was something she liked about him. He still was a young adult, since he was 8 years old he was orphan of mother and his father died some months ago. Now he needed somebody to do his household. He had inherited a considerable amount of money.
She accepted the job.

The very first day was a big success. She prepared his favorite meal without knowing it so the boy was very pleased.

She saw that he was an innocent boy and when he told her that he would like to be a surgeon, she said that it was a good decision.

Chester got very fond of her. While she was cooking, he helped cleaning. She had told him that she was an orphan as well. That obviously had been a lie but in her opinion she was sort ofan orphan.

She told him that she had to work as well during the evening because she had to pay the rent of her house.

Chester didnt think it over very much and he invited her to live at his place. As he was an innocent person, he said that he wouldnt give her a salary but give her a credit card. If she needed something, she just could use it.

Cynthia was shocked that he trusted her so much and she didnt want to disappoint him.

She sold her house and started to live with Chester. At least she didnt have to be afraid of running into John so often. However, now and again it happened and then Cynthia would be bad humored.

Then, at home, she shouted her frustration out and Chester paid for her bad humor. In a certain way, Cynthia felt superior as she saw the expression of sadness on his face.

But most of the time, they were all-right together. Chester told her that he had accepted a job representing a pharmaceutical enterprise but that meant that he would be on the road during weeks.

She looked at him and said that he would have to dress up nicely if he wanted to be successful in this job and she told him exactly what he should wear.

He needed a good car for his work. He was very pleased when he drove away for the first time that Cynthia stood there at the door waving good-bye. It reminded him of bygone days that his mother used to wave good-bye when he went to school.

Cynthia stood there and watched how the boy started his first job. Now she had a bit more time to herself and went out more often.

She got to know some other people and one of them asked her if she didnt mind that her friend spent such a long time from home.

Cynthia hadnt thought about Chester that way and she told the girl that they just had a platonic friendship.

But as a matter of fact, she missed him and was pleased when he came home even if it was only for one week. She started to have some tender feelings for him but thought that those were motherly feelings.

Very soon he had to go away again and the months went by; one week together and 3 weeks alone.
Now she really started to miss him very much and she was always thinking about him. In the afternoon, she went to the cemetery to do her work and then she met a girl, Marcia, with whom she got along very well. They had the same kind of character and they met a few times at the cemetery.

One afternoon, Marcia said to Cynthia that she had that girlfriend at Riverview who worked at a pharmacy. She had known Chester and they were dating. Her friend told her that, most probably very soon; she would be able to announce some good news.

Cynthia was shocked and said: You cannot be serious! My Chester?

Marcia: Well, it seems that he turns out to be someone elses! I dont know why my friend would lie to me about this.”
Now that she had started to like him, Cynthia felt very bad and went home. There she received a phone-call from Chester, telling her that he had something important to say. He would come home next week.

Cynthia got very nervous and she didnt want to get hurt anymore. What can I do? she thought. Then, somebody rang the doorbell. Two young people were standing there.

She asked them what they wanted and they told her that they felt very charmed with this nice house. Especially the woman said that she would love to buy the house. Please, tell me that you are willing to sell it; even if its overpriced; I dont mind.” She observed that the yard next to the house was great for she would love to grow fruit and vegetables.

In the state of mind Cynthia was in, she decided to take this opportunity. She sold the house right away and went to the Valley Bank. Cynthia had never used her credit card but now she withdrew all the money from the account.

She knew that she had to disappear so she unregistered as a housekeeper and bought a small house somewhere near the graveyard, she dyed her hair and from that time on; she took care not to be seen during some years. Although she had lots of money, her dreams were not of the joyful kind.

To be continued.
